Do you really want to play? When it comes to Jazz there are some good options but I will stick to the ones I know.
JAMBOREE JAZZ CLUB has it’s own Jam Session EVERY MONDAY night and it has a name as well, What The Fuck Jam Session, up and running since 2001, and hosted by Aurelio Santos. The event starts at 9 pm with a quartet playing either stantards or original material for an hour and fifteen minutes more or less. Then the Jazz Jam Session starts and goes on until more or less midnight and then the Jam Session turns to be a mixture of Jazz, Funk, Hip-hop, Reggae, R&B… until 1.30 am. EVERY TUESDAY in HELIOGABAL, Andreu Zaragoza, a great local guitar player created an event called the GRACIA JAZZ SESSIONS featuring him and two other local musicians from 10 pm onwards with different guests through out the night. The place itself has a great atmosphere and many musicians in the audience. Mainly standards and some original music might be played.
EVERY WEDNESDAY in EL FORO RESTAURANT, Mariano Steimberg, a local argentinian drummer, hosts the Foro Jam Session. The Jam starts at 10.45 pm with a trio featuring Mariano Steimberg on drums and two other local musicians. This Jam Session is mainly Jazz oriented and features great musicians. Good vibe and atmosphere plus lovely food served in the restaurant. The event finishes at 1.30 am.
EVERY THURSDAY in BAR ESTUDIANTIL, Guillem Arnedo, local drummer, hosts the Estudiantil Jam Session. The Jam starts featuring him and two other local musicians around 12 am and keeps on hitting hard until 2.30 am. The audience is young and noisy but with a lot of enthusiasm. ESMUC students are kind of regular in this Jam Session. You can also have a snack in the bar as the kitchen is open until late.
